インターネットという媒体は比較的に新しいが、インターネットのような媒体は昔からある。1849年創刊の Notes and Queries という雑誌はその一例。副題の Medium of Inter-Communication for Literary Men, Artists, Antiquaries（古物研究家）, Genealogists（系図学者）、etc. が示すように、雑学好きの情報交換場であった。

Meaning of "Nervous." -- Will any of your correspondents kindly oblige me, by stating what is the actual meaning of the word nervous? On reference to Johnson, I find it expressed as follows: --
"Nervy, sinewy, vigorous; also having diseased or weak nerves."
Now, by this definition, I am led to believe that the word has two meanings, directly opposed to each other. Is this so? K. BANNEL. Liverpool.
